This festival was started by the Villafranca sports club in 1969 as a fundraiser for the club. It is celebrated on the first Saturday in September, the day before the Melon Fair. It is an evening music and dance event (Verbena) and includes from its origins the competition for the largest melon, melon tasting is free. It was abandoned in 1979 but has returned twenty years later and has since then has become consolidated as one of the festivals of reference on the Mallorca calendar in the month of September. Also, since 1996 it has been incorporated into the Melon Fair. The evening (Verbena) is the main act of the festival, although it also coincides with other activities, sporting, cultural, games, during the previous days in the Melon Fair.
